» Project Details

The Horn Hill Solid Waste Transfer Station is located 10 km south of the City of Red Deer in Red Deer county on an extensively landscaped 8 ha. The site includes a scale and scale house, pesticide container recycling building, household hazardous waste building, household recycled goods area, and a 1,250 m2 transfer building that includes an office and shop.

The facility is designed to serve both residential and commercial clients in Red Deer county.

Williams provided architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical consulting engineering services for this exciting fast-tracked project. Additional off-site work included widening and paving of the county road as well as Highway 42 intersection upgrades. Our firm worked closely with UMA to ensure the site landscaping is both attractive and provides adequate screening for neighbouring residents.

The project was on a very tight time line placed by the county. We met this time line and reduced the estimated hauling costs that the county would have endured if the detailed design and construction schedules would have followed the original time lines placed at the start of the project.
