Michael grew up on Vancouver Island and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria in 1993. After moving to Edmonton in 1995, he developed a passion for lighting and lighting design and switched to lighting design and electrical engineering. Since then Michael has traveled extensively, working within the building consulting industry in San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and even Melbourne, Australia, before moving back to Victoria in 2012. In addition to Michael’s passion for lighting, he has extended his interests to code and policy issues, contract law and project delivery methods, and the general framework in which engineering services are provided.  Michael is a registered professional engineer in BC, Alberta, Washington State and California. He also has a LC certification from NCQLP, is an Assoc. IALD and a LEED AP. Michael is currently a member of SFPE, ASTM International and Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) and resides on the local chapter board for them.

When not working Michael likes to ride his bike (either mountain bike or road bike) and can often be found playing Dungeons & Dragons with his family.
