Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Cameron Heights Park consists of two playgrounds, a sand play space, a picnic table gazebo, storage shed surrounded by asphalt and a newly constructed spray park. The spray park was originally included in the design of Cameron Heights Park; however, it was not constructed in the same phase. Williams Engineering (WE) provided prime consulting engineering services for the detailed design and construction management of the spray features, hard surface, meter chamber, sanitary drainage and water service included in the new spray deck.
WE conducted an initial site visit to confirm the existing infrastructure, including water and drainage services, electrical services, lighting and various equipment. WE’s design drawings, and specifications included the design of the vault using existing services and electrical systems, including the grounding and bonding of the spray deck and the interconnections and relocation of existing electrical equipment. Assistance in tendering, cost estimates and application and approval from Alberta Health Services was provided by WE in addition to site reviews during construction, including substantial and construction completion reviews.
The successful delivery of this project ensures families and children within the community have a safe splash park to beat the summer heat. Completed in 2021, Cameron Heights Park enhances the community with a fun space for families to enjoy and connect with their neighbours.
