Project Delivery Method: Mechanical and Electrical Systems Upgrade
Discipline | Mechanical & Electrical

Enterprise Square, located in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, is a research and education hub within the University of Alberta. In a collective effort to utilize their existing spaces more effectively and with purpose, the University identified the need to renovate Enterprise Square. The goal of this undertaking is to construct open and flexible workspaces intended to support collaboration and engagement throughout the University’s community.

Supporting this project as the mechanical and electrical sub-consultants and design leads, Williams Engineering (WE) conducted a thorough review of existing services related to the mechanical and electrical systems of this renovation. The renovation encompassed six separate areas within the main floor of Enterprise Square including five open office and meeting room spaces as well as one common gathering zone. The zones were constructed in two phases with both design and construction phased. WE’s  mechanical team provided designs for the plumbing, heating and ventilation systems. Distribution, data, fire alarm, security and lighting systems were designed by the electrical team.

Featuring an open kitchen, dining area and atrium, this space is an ideal spot to engage in events and nurture connections with colleagues and friends. Flexible workstations and breakout meeting rooms offer new spaces to collaborate and focus. With construction now complete, Enterprise Square will soon welcome new tenants to its functional and dynamic space in downtown Edmonton which will brighten the lives of students and faculty while fostering research, learning and partnership.
