Constructed in Vanderhoof’s Heritage Park, the Vanderhoof Cultural Centre was designed closely with the Saik’uz First Nation to provide space for sharing history, culture and storytelling. The facility operates year-round to provide workshops, exhibits, and various events for the community. The building consists of a gallery space, meeting rooms and kitchen and will house artifacts, art, and several significant items from the Saik’uz First Nation.
Williams Engineering (WE) provided electrical engineering consulting services for the Vanderhoof Cultural Centre. After a kick-off meeting with the stakeholders, WE worked with the consultant and construction team to design lighting and power systems to suit the facility’s layout and operational requirements. In addition, WE completed life safety, security, and access control system designs. A solar array was also installed on the roof to increase sustainability.
Construction was completed, and the facility was opened in June of 2022 for visitors with an opening day ceremony. The Vanderhoof Cultural Centre provides an essential space to educate the community on the history of local Indigenous people and events intended to create a deeper understanding and appreciation of the local culture.
