Movember 2021

Posted: December 8, 2021

Since 2003, Movember has been the leading charitable foundation supporting actionable change for men’s health programs focused on mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.  Over ten million men globally are currently diagnosed with prostate cancer. Worldwide, testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer amongst young men. And globally, males account for almost 70% of all recorded suicides. Movember funds projects worldwide to address and lower these statistics within every community, funding ground-breaking medical research, digital resources and building strong social connections to reduce these risks to the male population. The overall goal of the Movember Foundation is to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25% by the year 2030.

In 2020, the participating Movember community raised an impressive $129 Million in 20 countries and had funded over 1,250 men’s health projects globally to date. Williams Engineering Canada (WEC) raised $1,780.00 in 2020 to support Movember’s many causes, contributing to their significant impacts on the global response to men’s health.

This year, WEC’s Movember campaign, led by Ben Rajewski, raised a staggering $5,623.00, over double our initial goal of $2,500.00! In addition, WEC will be matching the total funds raised! The $11,000.00 contribution from WEC will be used to change behaviour and messaging surrounding men’s health, create services that work to better reach those in need, unite experts to lead strong initiatives and advocate for the physical and mental wellbeing of the male community. WEC is very proud to have contributed to this incredible cause that will have a lasting impact on the crisis of men’s health.

And special recognition to both David Henriquez and Jay Shesky, who raised $2,278.00 and $2,100.00, respectively! Their support of this cause continues to inspire us all as we work towards a brighter future for men’s health. WEC looks forward to committing to Movember in 2022 and hopes to once again exceed our fundraising goal!
