Cornerstone Landing by Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Community Services

Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Community Services (MRPMCS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1971 that offers a wide range of services, including early childhood and youth programs, seniors housing and resources, and various counselling and mental health services. MRPMCS opened a new mixed-use building to increase its impact on the community. Cornerstone Landing consists of 94 units of pet-friendly, fair market rental housing and various office spaces for community services.

Williams Engineering (WE) provided mechanical engineering consulting services for this new construction project in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. These services included designs for the plumbing, heating, ventilation, and performance-based specifications for the fire protection system. Domestic hot water is provided to the building through central high-efficiency hot water heaters with return circulation. The residential suites are heated by electrical baseboard heaters with exhaust systems utilizing heat recovery ventilators to increase sustainability and meet energy code requirements. The parking garage exhaust systems are controlled with multiple carbon monoxide and combustible gas detectors that utilize continuous operation on low speed.

Cornerstone offers essential affordable housing for the Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge communities. An abundance of services are also offered in several office and commercial spaces within the facility, including one-on-one mental health support, employment support, wellness programs and access to rehabilitation funding. Cornerstone Landing provides a sense of belonging and the opportunity to increase many families’ and individuals’ quality of life.
