Frontier is a newly built, premium condo complex in the beautiful Kensington, Calgary. The building is an 8-storey complex combining one level of commercial space, 7 levels of residential space and 2 levels of underground parking. Frontier provides a collection 1- and 2- bedroom suites with a variety of floorplans to meet the diverse lifestyles of Calgarians.
Williams Engineering (WE) was retained to provide the building envelope engineering consulting services during construction of the Frontier complex.
Our building science team began by reviewing the architectural building envelope and roofing detail drawings. A written report was provided, outlining recommendations and comments on system performance, constructability, and detailing.
Ongoing building envelope reviews were conducted throughout construction, including pre-final and final reviews. Reviews focused on the air, vapour, and thermal barrier continuity, construction joints and tie-ins to ensure proper installation. Our team also performed regular roofing system reviews, with emphasis on the parapet and joint detailing and installation quality. Foundation waterproofing reviews were also included, including a detailed review of joints, laps, and penetrations.
Williams Engineering’s involvement helped ensure the long-term durability and performance of Frontier’s building envelope systems, contributing to a high-quality finished product aligned with the project’s premium vision.
