Moda Tower by Polygon Homes, standing at 32 storeys, is a modern and stylish condominium tower located in Burnaby, British Columbia. It is located a short distance from the city core, with an endless variety of restaurants, shopping, entertainment and public transportation.
Williams Engineering Canada (WEC) provided schematic design, design development, complete mechanical permit and construction documents, and specifications for the Moda Tower. The tower, consisting of two-bedroom suites with state-of-the-art appliances and floor-to-ceiling windows, was designed by IBI/HB Architects.
The building’s mechanical systems are composed of electric baseboard heat for all residential suites. Domestic hot water is generated by a central gas-fired high-efficiency boiler/storage tank system for the high-rise and individual electric water heaters for the concrete city homes. A boosted water distribution system was installed with four pressure zones to service domestic hot and cold water and recirculated through the tower. Corridor ventilation pressurization was provided on every level of the Moda Tower by a high-efficiency gas-fired air handling unit, and suite ventilation is achieved by time-controlled washroom exhaust fans. The building was fully equipped with sprinklers to NFPA 13 standard and was designed for the operation of a fire pump.
We have a long-standing working relationship with Polygon Homes, which has enhanced the quality and success of this project. The Moda Tower utilizes innovative conceptual designs, which create spaces that provide a high level of comfort and convenience for residents.
