The popular O’Byrnes Irish Pub has opened its second location in Edmonton, AB, in the MNP Tower. The new 5,278 sq. ft. space features seating for 180 guests indoors and an additional 90 on the patio, enhancing the area’s growing hospitality scene.
Williams Engineering (WE) was retained to provide the electrical and mechanical consulting engineering services to support the design and fit-out of the new tenant space. Our multidisciplinary team began by assessing the existing building systems within the tenant space in relation to the pub’s operational needs and the requirements of the project.
Our electrical team provided comprehensive designs for the power, lighting and lighting control designs to suit the new floorplan. WE also delivered the life safety systems designs including emergency and exit lighting, and the fire alarm system. In addition, the communications, security, and access control infrastructure were designed to support the pub’s operational and safety requirements.
Our mechanical team provided design modifications to the existing HVAC systems. This included load calculations, ventilation rates, and adjustments to perimeter heating to accommodate the updated layout. Plumbing designs were prepared for the washroom facilities and new kitchen, along with a fire suppression system for the kitchen hood. Lastly, modifications to the sprinkler head layout and fire extinguisher placement were completed to align with the new floorplan and meet code requirements.
