Located in Okotoks, Alberta, in the Foothills School Division, Percy Peglar School is a French Immersion public school for students enrolled in kindergarten to grade six. The school required a partial roof replacement that consisted of removing the existing EPDM membrane and installing a new modified bituminous membrane covering approximately 1,698 square meters of space.
Williams Engineering (WE) was retained as the Prime Consultant for this project, completed in three phases over a five-month period. The scope of work included completing a roof assessment, design and tendering, and services during construction. Although originally seeking an ARCA warranty, our team worked closely with the owner and contractor to ensure that the best quality and acceptable warranty was received. Upon review, there was a decision to seek a 20-year platinum warranty. WE was able to provide guidance and facilitate this process on behalf of the Foothills School Division.
Percy Peglar School’s partial roof replacement ensures the building is once again easily able to resist water ingress, cracking and various other damage that could potentially be caused by rainfall, snowfall and intense storm events. Roof replacements such as this are often a critical element to the resiliency of large buildings and support a safe, comfortable environment for students to continue their education.
