A new multi-purpose center was built for the Piikani First Nation, Reserve No. 147, located in the town of Brocket, Alberta, located along Highway 3 between the towns of Fort Macleod and Pincher Creek. The multi-purpose center has a total area of 39,000 sq. ft. and can accommodate 547 people. The building contains seven pre-built modules comprising 14 rooms that serve as change rooms, concession stands and public washrooms. There are also eight site-built rooms that will act as meeting rooms and auxiliary spaces for mechanical, electrical, maintenance and the ice plant. The hockey rink itself is 85’ x 200’.
The mechanical scope of work for this project was to provide detailed designs and specifications of the mechanical services necessary for the complete building operation of the hockey arena. The specifications included design for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system design, including dehumidification, water services and plumbing, fire protection system and coordination with the artificial ice refrigeration plant design-build supplier.
The electrical scope of work for this project was to provide detailed designs and specifications of the electrical services necessary for the complete building operation of the hockey arena. The specifications include the engineering and design of the lighting, lighting controls, exit and emergency lighting, misc. power, fire alarm, telephone and data, grounding, building mechanical equipment and coordination with the artificial ice refrigeration plant design-build supplier.
