Smashburger

Williams Engineering (WE) partnered with CMA Architecture on build a new Smashburger facility located in the McKenzie Towne Centre neighbourhood in Calgary, Alberta. WE provided mechanical and electrical consulting engineering services to renovate the existing space into the franchise restaurant.

WE’s mechanical team reviewed the existing services in relation to the requirements of the renovation, provided modification solutions to the ventilation system, and engineered associated plumbing work.

The electrical team reviewed: existing services, lighting and power connections designed within the owner’s requirements, emergency and exit lighting, revisions to the existing fire detection system, and voice data rough-in.

WE worked closely with the architect and owner to ensure all of the requirements to make the restaurant a success were achieved. Because the project team was spread across various locations throughout Canada and the United States, we used our Internal Quality Control and Management System to ensure strong coordination and collaboration between our Alberta and British Columbia offices, and with CMA Architecture located in Dallas, Texas. This system standardizes tools and processes, establishes team accountability, creates clarity and value for our clients, and assures project quality.

To enhance project management services, WE also took full advantage of Newforma Project Centre. This tool enhances project communication by aiding in the management of electronic correspondence, project search, and external file collaboration.

Over the course of the Smashburger project WE formed a strong partnership with CMA Architecture and provided engineering services to additional Smashburger locations.
