Williams Engineering is honored to announce that we have been named one of the HR Reporters’ 5-Star Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Employers of 2024.
The workplaces that receive this title are distinguished by their commitment to creating a culture where teammates feel they belong, are supported, and are empowered to contribute their best.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are integral pillars of our success. By focusing on the need for ongoing awareness and training to promote inclusivity, we have created a supportive work environment for all.
We are a purpose-driven company that aligns our focus with three of the UN’s sustainable development goals:
- Sustainable Cities
- Reduced Inequalities
- Gender Equality
These development goals drive our decision-making and form the backbone of our DEI strategy. We are committed to gender equality & have embedded this in our processes and policies. We focus on encouraging diversity of thought by including best practices in our DEI policy and training our teammates on inclusive behaviors and other DEI related topics.
We understand we need diverse perspectives to solve problems effectively and that there is a representation disparity in the engineering industry. To help make progress in our industry, we engage with First Nations and Indigenous communities to promote the idea of going into an engineering or a related field. As part of our initiative to increase diversity in the engineering industry, we provide annual scholarships for female engineering students at the University of Alberta (U of A), and Internships for Black youth enrolled in engineering at the U of A to provide opportunities to underrepresented groups in the field.
We know that our world needs to be more inclusive. This belief extends past the infrastructure we design and is demonstrated each day by our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion with our teammates. We hope that our efforts and community initiatives that we support brighten people’s lives, while continuing to help design and build a brighter future.
We are grateful to be recognized on this list. Thank you to the HR Reporter and a special thank you to our amazing teammates! This would not be possible without you.
