Movember 2022

December 8, 2022

Over the past two decades, Movember has grown into a global movement that expands its reach and creates a larger impact year after year. United by the common goal to change the face of men’s health, Movember has cultivated a dedicated community with participants in 21 countries and over 6.8 million supporters worldwide since its inception in 2003. On average, men die four and a half years earlier than women, largely for preventable reasons. Approximately 10.8 million men are faced with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Testicular cancer continues to be the most common cancer among young men worldwide. Movember aims to address the men’s health crisis by funding international projects that create long-term impact in the three areas of men’s health that need the most support: mental health and suicide prevention, testicular cancer and prostate cancer.

2021 saw many successful projects from the Movember community, beginning with the launch of Family Man, the first digital parenting resource created exclusively for dads to provide parenting confidence and knowledge. Nunavut currently has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. To address this, Movember supported the launch of Canada’s first subarctic Indigenous Mental Health Addictions Centre to meet the evolving needs of the Inuit population. In addition, Movember also collaborated with Prostate Cancer UK in an effort to connect cutting-edge researchers from around the world to accelerate improvements in the treatment and quality of life for men living with testicular and prostate cancer.

This year, Williams Engineering (WE) raised a combined total of $3,555.00, surpassing our goal of $2,500.00! Led by Ben Rajewski, the WE team is pleased to continue our commitment to this cause and contribute to Movember’s goal of decreasing the number of deaths from prostate and testicular cancer by 50% by 2030.  Special recognition goes to Daveed Henriquez, who raised an incredible total of $2,100.00 in donations! Our team’s unwavering support of this movement inspires the change and efforts necessary to make a great difference in our communities.

We look forward to once again exceeding our fundraising goal in 2023!
