Williams Engineering (WE) is proud to share that the Capilano Library has received a Prairie Design Award! This award recognizes excellence and creativity in architecture and design throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. WE provided the mechanical consulting engineering services on this 10,000-square-foot facility located in Edmonton, Alberta. WE, along with our design team partners, used a collaborative model to design the library, reducing risk for the owner. The model allowed the WE mechanical team to mock up areas of the building that would be potentially difficult to build, as well as high-traffic areas for distribution systems to validate that it could be built.
To achieve its LEED Silver Certification, WE included a variety of sustainable features into the design. These included heat recovery on ventilation systems, high-efficiency condensing boilers, and air-cooled chillers. Williams Engineering strives to create innovative and environmentally responsible solutions to further progress access to art, education, and cultural development.
