Carrington is a beautiful, modern neighbourhood in NW Calgary, Alberta. It is a walkable community with views of the mountains, and numerous hiking trails & numerous amenities close by. Residents benefit from being located right off Centre Street and the Stoney trail ring road. This makes accessing downtown Calgary or the mountains quick and easy. The complex consists of two wood-framed, 4-storey residential low-rise buildings seated on a common single level underground parkade.
Williams Engineering (WE) provided the building envelope consulting engineering services during the construction of the Carrington Multifamily project. Our building envelope and roofing design services included a review of the building envelope and roofing detail drawings provided by the architect.
WE provided recommendations regarding the building envelope systems and details. This included building envelope site reviews during construction, with special attention being paid to the detailing of the air barrier, construction joints, tie-ins between various building envelope components, and workmanship.
We reviewed the site mock-ups of specific and critical building envelope details and worked closely with the contractor and sub-contractor regarding the constructability of the critical details. We also provided roofing system site reviews during construction, paying special attention to the detailing of the parapets, construction joints, tie-ins between various roofing components and the building envelope, and workmanship.
Lastly, we provided foundation waterproofing and damp proofing reviews during construction. Attention was paid to the detailing around penetrations, laps and joints.
This project was completed in association with Cedarglen Living Inc. & NORR Architects!
