Chilliwack and Fraser Health Rural Primary Care Centre

Located on Evans Road in Chilliwack, British Columbia, the new Chilliwack and Fraser Health Rural Primary Care Centre (PCC) provides essential health care services to the communities of Chilliwack, Agassiz/Harrison, Hope and beyond. The facility was made possible by a collaboration between Fraser Health, the Ministry of Health, the Chilliwack Division of Family Practice and several other community partners. With the growing population in British Columbia, the need for many communities to provide additional healthcare services has significantly increased.

Working alongside Chernoff Thompson Architecture, Williams Engineering (WE) provided electrical consulting engineering services for this tenant improvement project. The original commercial space was approximately 13,200 square feet of exam and consultation rooms, medication room, group therapy room, sacred space, communications room and other support services. To support the quick design turnaround desired by the client, the project was completed using a fast-tracked methodology and Construction Management (CM) approach with concurrent design and leasing activities. WE’s electrical teams prepared the design drawings for this project. The electrical drawings included power, lighting, fire alarms, emergency lighting and security systems. The designs for this project are compliant with CSA-Z317 and CSA-Z32. During construction, WE provided site reviews to determine conformance with the design and technical standards.

The Chilliwack and Fraser Health Rural Primary Care Centre provides the opportunity for patients to receive quality, same-day healthcare, effectively lessening the reliance on hospitals for non-emergency circumstances. With significantly increased mental health resources, residents of the community will have access to additional specialized services that directly enhance their quality of life. This new facility fulfills the evolving need of patients, staff and residents of Chilliwack and the surrounding communities while providing primary care providers, mental health recourses and addiction care.
