Eastlink Centre

Williams Engineering (WE) provided civil and mechanical engineering services for the construction of a new recreation facility for the City of Grande Prairie. Construction on the 32,052-square-metre Eastlink Centre began in December 2008, and the facility was completed in early 2011.

The Eastlink Centre features a wide variety of water activities for all ages: an adventure river, water playground, waterslides, Flow Rider surfing machine, a 50-metre competitive pool for a variety of uses (synchronized swimming, kayaking, lane swimming, water polo, scuba diving), a 25-metre warm water pool, and a barrier-free access pool for youth and senior programs. The facility also boasts family and adult hot tubs, sauna and steam rooms, a diving platform, and springboards.

For fitness fanatics, the Eastlink Centre hosts a 15,000 square-foot fitness area for cardio, fitness, and weight training activities; a 175-metre running track; field houses for multi-sports including soccer, squash, and racquetball; and team dressing rooms.

The Eastlink Centre is further equipped to support child and youth services such as child care, a jungle playground, preschool programs, and babysitting courses.

With a value of $110 million, the Eastlink Centre was built as part of the Community Knowledge Campus on the south side of Grande Prairie. All campus facilities share connected heating and cooling infrastructure, which WE engineered, designed, and coordinated.
