NAIT Culinary Innovation Centre

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) Culinary Innovation Centre is located in Edmonton, Alberta, and focuses on nutrition and health, the application of novel ingredients, sustainability and kitchen efficiency. The existing lecture area located in the NAIT main campus U-building, situated at the north end of the main floor, was renovated in the summer of 2019. The renovated space is called the NAIT Centre for Culinary Innovation (NCCI) and included the relocation of existing Ernest’s office and a custodial room. The total area is approximately 6200 square feet, and it included full demolition and construction.

Williams Engineering (WE) provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for this tenant improvement project. Mechanical design services included: the review of existing services in relation to the requirements of the expansion, as well as plumbing, heating, and ventilation systems. Additionally, electrical design needs such as the distribution system (branch circuit panels), lighting (area lighting, specialized lighting, and controls), power and emergency power, and voice data infrastructure were provided.

A kitchen where anything is possible, the Culinary Innovation Centre is a place where new ideas come to life to please the industries’ ever-changing demands. Williams Engineering is committed to continuing to engage in projects that innovate and brighten the lives of people in our communities.
