Oakridge Apartments

Originally constructed in 1971, Oakridge Apartments include five townhouse buildings with 30 two-storey units in Calgary, Alberta’s southwest community of Oakridge. Developed directly south of the Glenmore Reservoir, Oakridge is home to many outdoor attractions, including boat docks, plenty of hiking trails, Glenmore Park and Heritage Park.

Williams Engineering (WE) completed a visual review of the building envelope and structural components of the Oakridge apartments. A review of the building’s exterior was completed to identify signs of structural distress, cracks and shrinkage,  as well as a review of the building envelope components to assess their current condition, including stucco finish, metal siding, windows and exterior doors. After identifying the deficiencies of the building, WE provided a thorough Investigation Report detailing the observations gathered onsite and providing numerous recommendations that resulted in various repairs. These repairs included a reinstallation of pre-cast stairs, cladding replacements, localized stucco repair work and replacements of various windows to improve thermal performance.

Managed by the Calgary Housing Company, the Oakridge Apartments help meet the growing demand for access to affordable housing and rental options for people in Calgary, Alberta. Performing necessary maintenance on housing infrastructure effectively improves the comfort of residents, while enhancing their quality of life and ensuring each household has access to a safe place to call home.
