Pandora Tower is a unique 16-storey purpose-built rental residential building by Vancouver-based developer, Townline. This innovative project includes 54 fully furnished co-living pods, which include a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and spacious shared kitchen spaces. The goal of Pandora Tower is to provide residents with plenty of opportunities for socialization, creating a communal environment with the added benefit of more affordable living options. Another benefit of the modern lifestyle that this building’s design provides is having all utilities included in monthly rent for each tenant, a bonus to renters with a fixed income.
Williams Engineering (WE) provided energy modelling and mechanical engineering consulting services for Pandora Tower, including designs for the plumbing systems, domestic water distribution and recirculation system, HVAC, and emergency generator. Central high-efficiency gas-fired water heaters will provide domestic hot water and two domestic water pressure zones will be required, due to the height of the building. A booster pump system maintains water pressure at the upper-pressure zone. The residential suites are heated by electric baseboards and ventilation using Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) designed to comply with ASHRAE 62.1 requirements. Corridor ventilation is provided using gas-fired roof-mounted makeup air units with DX cooling capabilities. Common area ventilation is provided by energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) with heating and cooling by heat pump split systems.
