The Metro at Transit Village is a mixed-use development that consists of four six-storey concrete and wood frame buildings featuring 514 residential rental apartments and commercial tenants on the ground level. The Metro was designed to draw residents into the communal spaces, including a spacious rooftop patio, community gardens and ample greenspace. The ground floor provides residents with several shops, services and entertainment options in addition to direct access to the Scott Road Skytrain station.
The property has approximately 6,800 ft2 of indoor amenity space and 11,700 ft2 of commercial space constructed over two partially underground parkades of approximately 240,000 ft2. The building includes energy-efficient LED lights and occupancy sensors and aligns closely with the City of Surrey’s vision to revitalize the transit corridor. Williams Engineering (WE) provided electrical engineering consulting services for Transit Village, including lighting, power, fire alarm and low voltage distribution design. Lighting was designed to be cost-effective and durable to ensure the integrity of the rental property remains optimal for future tenants. As space at the site was limited, consistent and clear coordination was essential with BC Hydro for the vista switches and pad-mounted transformers. Exterior lighting was designed using IESNA recommendations and best practices for security.
The Metro at Transit Village provides incredibly convenient access to Surrey’s efficient transit system and actively reduces the need for individual transportation.
