Williams Engineering (WE) provided the mechanical engineering consulting services for the Townsend townhomes. The development was completed in four phases and consists of forty-four building clusters totalling 181 3-storey, wood-framed townhome units. Plumbing, heating and ventilation systems were designed by WE, with heating provided to the residential spaces by electric baseboards. Coordination for site services and connections to sanitary, storm, gas and water systems were required for the preparation of site plans and utilities. This development was designed to comply with ASHRAE 90.1-2010 energy standards, which required WE’s assistance in interpreting the prescriptive thermal performance requirements of the exterior wall assemblies.
