University of Calgary Earth Sciences Building Renovation

University of Calgary’s Earth Sciences building is home to various departments of education offered on campus, including Geoscience, Geography and Anthropology.  With over thirty thousand students and five campuses, the University of Calgary attracts students from across Canada as a member of the U15, an association of top Canadian research universities. The university offers a broad range of areas to study, including 53 departments and over 200 academic programs.

Retained by BRZ Partnership Architecture, Williams Engineering (WE) is providing mechanical and electrical consulting engineering services for the demolition and renovation of various classrooms within the Earth Sciences Building. Services include developing mechanical designs for the installation of gas detection systems, ventilation for the gas cylinders, HVAC, gas cylinder cabinets and a new neutralization tank. WE’s electrical team is responsible for the new LED lighting design throughout the facility, new data connections, power systems, emergency power and electronic shutdown systems, as well as the design of life safety devices, including smoke and heat detectors.

The University of Calgary has diligently served and inspired members of our communities throughout the country and is expected to become one of Canada’s leading research institutions in the very near future. As it continues to grow at a rapid pace, this renovation will ensure the University of Calgary is able to provide comfort and safety to students and staff today and for future generations.
