Located in the family-oriented community of Yorkson in Langley, British Columbia, the Yorkson Wellness and Residence is a newly constructed mixed-use commercial and residential building. The development houses two levels of medical and professional offices and retail space with two levels of residential space on the third and fourth floors. Yorkson offers twenty-two residential suites with several unique layout options to suit a wide variety of tenants.
Williams Engineering (WE) provided mechanical and electrical engineering consulting services for this project. The electrical design includes working drawings for power, communications, lighting and life safety systems. The fire alarm system, exterior site parking area lighting, parkade lighting and main power distribution system were designed by WE’s electrical team. Plumbing and HVAC systems were designed by WE’s mechanical team, including the domestic water distribution and hot water recirculation system to maintain water temperature. Residential suites are heated using electric baseboards while the commercial units utilize individual split-system multi-zone units with heat pumps in the parkade. Energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) are installed in each suite to provide ventilation and have been designed to comply with ASHRAE requirements.
