The Williams Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Jay Shesky as Managing Director of Umbra Engineering, effective July 6th, 2020.
Along with a passion for building and optimizing businesses, mentoring team members, and contributing positively to cities and communities, Jay brings over 25 years of experience, including a well-rounded and diverse portfolio in the engineering consulting industry as a professional engineer and as an entrepreneur in the industrial sector.
After graduating from university, Jay began his career as an engineer focused on designing and managing buildings infrastructure projects in the commercial, industrial and telecommunications sectors. During the course of a decade, Jay managed large, full-scope technical projects and relationships with various stakeholders in Canada and the United States. In 2003, Jay changed course and turned his attention to another industry as he became a partner in a repair, parts and service business for heavy-duty trucks. As President of Truck Zone, Jay was responsible for the company’s strategic growth and operational efficiency. Under the direction of Jay and his team, the company experienced rapid growth as it grew from one location in Edmonton, AB, to five locations across Alberta.
Jay’s passion for business and engineering solutions that create safe and sustainable communities has led him back to the consulting engineering industry. His experience in engineering various infrastructure projects and as a leader and entrepreneur will be a welcome asset to the Umbra Engineering team and the Williams Group.
This new appointment begins an exciting chapter for Umbra Engineering. Jay’s leadership abilities and experience will further strengthen an already robust group as they continue to deliver value, innovation and an exceptional experience for our customers.
