Women’s History Month 2024

October 15, 2024

October is Women’s History Month in Canada.

This is a time to celebrate the women and girls from our past and our present, who are contributing to a more inclusive Canada.

In 1992, the Government of Canada designated October as Women’s History Month. This marked the beginning of an annual celebration of the outstanding achievements of women and girls throughout Canada’s history. The highlight of this month is Person’s Day on October 18. October has been selected because of the historical significance of the “Persons Case” decision of 1929, a landmark victory in the struggle of Canadian women for equality.

October 18th – Persons Day

On Persons Day, we honour the bravery and determination of the Famous Five whose landmark case helped pave the way for women to participate equally in all aspects of life in Canada. We also honour all those whose work in the years since then has expanded and strengthened those rights.

The Women’s History Month Theme for 2024

This year’s theme is Women at Work: Economic Growth Past, Present and Future. This highlights the significant contributions women have made to the workforce throughout history, and the critical role they continue to play in driving economic innovation and progress that has benefited Canada as a whole.

It is important to us to support women and encourage diverse mindsets so that we can develop more inclusive solutions.  We are proud of the strong team of women at Williams Engineering who contribute their talents, creativity, and perspectives. Your leadership is invaluable to our purpose of brightening lives.
