Located on the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Vancouver Campus, Ivy on the Park is a stunning luxury townhome and condominium development completed in 2021. The Residential Environmental Assessment Program (REAP), designed by UBC, intends to reduce environmental impact on buildings and communities in University neighbourhoods. REAP ensures buildings are designed with lower consumptions of water, energy and resources. All developments within University neighbourhoods are required to meet the minimum of REAP Gold Certification. Williams Engineering (WE), alongside the complete project team, assisted in identifying which combination of building envelope, mechanical and electrical systems would achieve optimal energy and operating performance at a reasonable construction cost.
As part of the project team, WE provided mechanical engineering consulting services. HVAC design included hydronic heating and cooling for the residential suites, air conditioning and heating for the amenity space, ductwork design, parkade exhaust system design and mechanical system control and automation design. Ivy on the Park’s plumbing design was also completed by WE, including the domestic hot and cold water system, sanitary systems, storm systems for roof, landscape and parkade drainage and the foundation footing drainage system design. In addition, WE completed several mechanical site visits during the construction of the building, ensuring conformance of construction to design.
