Located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Aqua Soul is a newly opened med spa specializing in waxing, pedicures, facials, laser hair removal and massage. The original space consisted of a single-level commercial shell unit and required various revisions to meet the demands of the Aqua Soul Med Spa as the first tenant to occupy the space. The total floor area is roughly 1,750 square feet and contains three washrooms, a kitchenette, a waiting room, a reception area, a lounge, a mechanical room and additional rooms for laser, facials, massage, pedicures, and waxing.
Williams Engineering (WE) provided the mechanical and electrical engineering consulting services for this tenant improvement. The mechanical and electrical design teams began with reviewing the suitability and capacity of the existing base building services and equipment. The existing rooftop packaged unit with gas heating and DX cooling provides heating and cooling. Energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) are used to serve the spa treatment rooms to provide ventilation, and an electric radiant panel and modulating ceiling supply air diffuser serve the massage treatment room to provide enhanced occupant comfort and zone temperature control. WE’s electrical designs included the lighting layout, circuiting and controls to meet code requirements for lighting levels and tenant requirements for various rooms.
