Having opened in November of 2022, the Port Moody Urgent and Primary Care Centre provides care for non-life-threatening conditions within 12-24 hours and helps connect patients to full-service primary care physicians. As the population in this area continues to grow rapidly, this new facility addresses the need for accessible, comprehensive health care.
Williams Engineering (WE) is currently providing mechanical and electrical engineering consulting services for this tenant improvement. The facility is approximately 4,500 square feet and consists of exam rooms, procedure rooms, utility space, medication room and additional support service spaces. WE’s electrical designs included electrical power, lighting and fire alarms to suit the new space layout in addition to emergency lighting and exit signs. The heating, ventilation and plumbing systems were designed by WE’s mechanical team. Construction administration was provided, including mechanical and electrical design drawings and specifications for the tender phase, coordination of field reviews and review of the building’s shop drawings. This facility was designed with compliance to CSA-Z317 and CSA-Z32 standards.
The Port Moody Urgent and Primary Care Centre improves access to timely and effective healthcare for the community. Additional resources and facilities ensure physicians are able to connect more people to the appropriate healthcare services they require within a reasonable time frame.
